Monroe to Perform at Historic French Cathedral

French-American singer Monroe, who represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with her pop-opera song “Regarde !”, is set to perform a special concert at Saint-Lazare Cathedral in Autun on September 19.

The young artist, who is not yet 18, has attracted attention with her powerful soprano voice, distinctive blonde braids and natural stage presence. She first rose to prominence in 2024 after appearing on the French television programme Prodiges, which celebrates young talents in classical music and dance.

Born to a French-Congolese mother and an American father, Monroe began singing in her church choir while also learning to play the piano. Her powerful voice and classical influences have since helped her build a distinctive musical identity.

From Eurovision to French cathedrals

Monroe made her Eurovision debut with “Regarde !”, a pop-opera entry that showcased her classical vocal abilities alongside contemporary pop elements. She ultimately finished 11th at Eurovision.

Following her Eurovision experience, Monroe has returned to performing in churches and cathedrals across France, venues that particularly suit her lyrical voice and dramatic musical style.

In an interview, the young singer described her artistic approach by saying she feels she is “connecting Earth and sky” — an idea that also reflects the spiritual atmosphere of her current concerts.

A mix of sacred and secular music

The Autun concert will feature songs from Monroe's debut album, Monroe, released in 2025.

The programme will move between sacred music, classical repertoire and popular favourites, including Ave Maria, Over the Rainbow, Con te partirò and O mio babbino caro.

Ave Maria is particularly associated with Monroe and has become one of her signature pieces, with the singer performing different versions of the timeless work.

The concert is scheduled for Saturday, September 19 at 8 p.m. at Saint-Lazare Cathedral in Autun. Tickets are priced at €32.
