E.M.D. Are Back: Swedish Pop Trio Announce New Plans for 2027

Swedish pop trio E.M.D. (Erik Segerstedt, Mattias Andréasson and Danny Saucedo) are officially back together, with a brand new stage show planned for 2027.

The trio, who became one of Sweden’s biggest pop acts after forming in 2007, will present their new show “Mellan Oss” at Cirkus in Stockholm, with the premiere scheduled for 4 February 2027.

The announcement comes after the group cancelled their planned Christmas shows. According to Erik Segerstedt, the decision was made after Cirkus became available for a larger spring production. E.M.D. had already reunited for four concerts at the venue last year, which gave the three singers an appetite for doing more together.

“We wanted to do something as soon as possible,” Segerstedt explained in an interview with Aftonbladet. The trio ultimately decided that a major Cirkus production in 2027 was the better option. 

“We are not the same people anymore”

The new show will look back at E.M.D.’s nearly 20 year history, but the members say they have changed considerably since their breakthrough.

The three singers were in their twenties when E.M.D. became a major name in Swedish pop. Today, they are all in their forties and describe themselves as much more mature.

Segerstedt says there is now less focus on ego and more focus on music.

Mattias Andréasson similarly explains that the old competition between the members who wanted to be “in the front” is no longer there.

Danny Saucedo also looked back humorously at some of the trio’s old arguments, including an apparently memorable backstage dispute over a pair of underwear.

According to Saucedo, it was ultimately a very small issue that became much bigger because of the members’ egos at the time.

A show about E.M.D. and their fans

“Mellan Oss” translates roughly as “Between Us”, and the title reflects the concept of the show.

The production will explore the relationship between the three members as well as the relationship between E.M.D. and their audience.

Fans can expect a mixture of music, nostalgia and humour, with songs from different periods of the group’s career.

Their catalogue includes hits such as “Jennie Let Me Love You”, “Baby Goodbye”, “All for Love”, “Alone” and “Youngblood”. 

The official description promises a journey through the group’s past, present and future including songs fans remember, songs they may have forgotten, and possibly songs they did not realise they had missed. 

From Melodifestivalen to a new chapter

E.M.D. have a particularly strong connection with Sweden’s Eurovision world. The trio’s members have all remained active in Swedish entertainment following their original split, while E.M.D. themselves competed in Melodifestivalen 2009 with “Baby Goodbye”.

Their new show therefore marks more than a simple nostalgia reunion: it brings together almost two decades of shared history, including their rise through Swedish pop culture, Melodifestivalen and their individual solo careers.

The “Mellan Oss” premiere will take place at Cirkus in Stockholm on 4 February 2027, with additional performances scheduled throughout February, March and April.
