Eric Saade and Malin Olsson to Host SVT's New Music Competition, "Hello Mello"

SVT has unveiled its latest musical venture, "Hello Mello," and it will be led by none other than Swedish pop star Eric Saade and beloved TV host Malin Olsson. This new program will spotlight young musical talent as teenagers aged 13 to 15 compete for a coveted spot in next year's Melodifestivalen.

"Hello Mello" offers a platform for these young artists to showcase their skills and originality. Over the course of the show, participants will perform new songs crafted by some of Sweden's top songwriters, rather than covering existing hits. The competition will unfold through five preliminary rounds, culminating in a grand final where the winning act will earn a place in the prestigious Melodifestivalen lineup.

Eric Saade, who previously won Melodifestivalen and represented Sweden at Eurovision, is thrilled to bring his experience to the show. "It feels super fun," he says. "The fact that it's about music and young talent makes it even more exciting. I can really relate to these young artists; I started my career at a young age myself. I hope to inspire them and serve as a role model."

Malin Olsson, known for her energetic presence on SVT’s "Sommarlov," shares Saade's enthusiasm. "It’s special to see these young talents perform with their own unique style. They’re not just aspiring stars—they’re already stars when we begin. I hope 'Hello Mello' becomes a staple on SVT and helps many of these artists move on to Melodifestivalen in the future."

The show, which aims to highlight fresh and diverse musical talent, will broadcast live on Sunday evenings, beginning October 27. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites using the SVT Mello app, determining which acts advance through the rounds.

With over 1,500 applicants vying for a spot, "Hello Mello" promises to be an exciting addition to Sweden's music scene. Stay tuned for more updates as we follow these emerging stars on their journey to Melodifestivalen!
