Katy Perry Under Fire as New Track Sparks Claims of Similarity to Netflix Eurovision Song

Katy Perry’s new single, "Nirvana," is being scrutinized for its resemblance to a track from the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Perry began teasing "Nirvana" yesterday, but the excitement was quickly overshadowed by claims on Twitter that the song bears a striking resemblance to "Double Trouble," performed by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams in the Eurovision-themed movie. The songs share notable melodic similarities, with both featuring a prominent piano-led instrumental and comparable chorus structures.

Perry showcased "Nirvana" for the first time at Beaches West Hollywood before unveiling the official teaser on her Instagram. Meanwhile, "Double Trouble," which earned positive reviews for its performance in the film, has drawn comparisons due to its catchy chorus and pre-chorus sections similar to those in Perry’s new track.

The controversy adds to the list of challenges Perry has faced during this era of her career, with her recent singles struggling to achieve both critical acclaim and commercial success.

As of now, Perry has not addressed the claims regarding the resemblance between "Nirvana" and "Double Trouble."
