Could Merkel & Rolinski Be Preparing for Melodifestivalen 2027?

Could two Melodifestivalen veterans be preparing for a return to Sweden's Eurovision selection in 2027?

Tess Merkel and Martin Rolinski have joined forces for a brand new musical project and their timing has caught the attention.

Merkel, best known as a member of Alcazar, and Rolinski, the former frontman of BWO, are now performing together as Merkel & Rolinski as a duo.

According to their official website, the duo are not only performing songs from their famous catalogues but are also creating new original music together. Their project is described as a celebration of 25 years of Scandinavian pop history.

And this is where things get interesting for us fans.

Both artists have a long history with Sweden's Eurovision selection. Martin Rolinski competed in Melodifestivalen in 2013 with “In And Out Of Love”, while Tess Merkel took part in Melodifestivalen 2021 as a solo artist with “Good Life.” Tess also has several Melodifestivalen appearances with Alcazar.

The duo have already released their first joint single, “Let There Be Love,” and are continuing to perform together around Sweden. Their live show combines the musical worlds of BWO and Alcazar, two acts that are closely connected with Swedish pop and Melodifestivalen history.

The duo have now taken their collaboration one step further with new music. On September 18, Merkel x Rolinski released “Crucified Reborn,” a new version of Army of Lovers' iconic 1991 hit “Crucified.” The track transforms the original into a dancefloor-focused disco pop song, while its music video features Army of Lovers members Jean-Pierre Barda and Alexander Bard.

So, could this new collaboration eventually lead to Melodifestivalen 2027?
