Luxembourg Introduces New Selection Model for Eurovision 2027

Luxembourg is introducing a new two-track selection model for the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027, separating the selection of songs and performing artists before bringing them together in a dedicated pairing workshop.

The new system, announced by RTL Luxembourg as preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 gather pace, will allow songwriters from around the world to submit their songs without having a Luxembourgish performer already attached to the project.

Songs and Artists to Be Selected Separately

Under the new format, songs and performing artists will initially be assessed separately.

A panel of music industry professionals and Eurovision experts will evaluate the submitted songs and identify those with the strongest artistic and competitive potential. At the same time, Luxembourgish singers, performing artists and music groups will go through a separate selection process.

The two sides will then be brought together during an Artist & Song Pairing Workshop in November 2026.

During the workshop, shortlisted performers will discover the pre-selected songs and work with industry professionals and Eurovision specialists to find the combinations that offer the strongest artistic and competitive potential.

RTL Luxembourg says the approach is designed to encourage new collaborations and creative partnerships, while opening the national selection to songwriters who may not already have connections with Luxembourgish artists.

International Songwriters Invited to Submit

The new model also makes the Luxembourg Song Contest more accessible to international songwriting teams. Songwriters, composers, producers and music publishers from around the world are invited to submit original songs.

There are no restrictions on nationality, genre or language, with RTL particularly welcoming songs in Luxembourgish.

Submitted songs must be no longer than three minutes, must be original works and must not have been released or publicly performed before 1 September 2026. They must also comply with the Eurovision Song Contest rules and the Luxembourg Song Contest regulations.

The deadline for song submissions is 29 October 2026 at 23:59 CET.

Artist Applications Still Open

While songs and artists will be selected separately, Luxembourgish performers can still apply to take part in the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 without having a song attached to their application.

Artist applications will remain open until 20 September 2026 at 23:59 CET, with auditions before an international jury scheduled for October.

The winning artist-song combination will ultimately compete at the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 on 30 January at Rockhal. The winner will represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria.

Luxembourg has used the Luxembourg Song Contest as its national final since returning to Eurovision in 2024, following a 31-year absence from the competition.

Songwriters interested in submitting their work can apply through RTL Luxembourg's official Eurovision registration platform: eurovision.rt.lu/registration.
