North Macedonia: Antonia Gigovska for Eurovision 2027?

Could Antonia Gigovska represent North Macedonia at Eurovision 2027? Following the young singer's rise to public popularity, she is expected to participate in Eurovision in 2027.

North Macedonia will make its Eurovision comeback in Burgas, Bulgaria, after a four-year absence. The country's public broadcaster, MRT, has confirmed its participation and is preparing a new approach to selecting its Eurovision representative.

While MRT has not yet announced who will represent North Macedonia, one name has already received a major vote of confidence from one of the country's biggest Eurovision stars: Tamara Todevska.

Todevska expressed her support for the young singer, saying that Gigovska deserves the opportunity.

Gigovska is already familiar with the Eurovision stage. She was part of Todevska's team at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, where she performed as one of the backing vocalists for the song “Proud.” Todevska went on to finish seventh in the Grand Final, giving North Macedonia its best Eurovision result to date.

The connection between the two singers makes Todevska's support particularly notable as speculation begins around North Macedonia's 2027 representative.

MRT plans changes for the 2027 selection

North Macedonia's return also comes with possible changes to the way its Eurovision representative will be chosen.

According to reports from Sloboden Pečat, MRT is preparing a new approach to the selection of its Eurovision participant. MRT director Zoran Ristovski has spoken about a renewed strategy for the country's return and said the broadcaster has received support from the European Broadcasting Union in promoting its Eurovision participation. 

This means that the door could be open to a different selection process for 2027, although MRT has not yet confirmed whether it will use a national final, an internal selection, or another format.
