Australian singer ALIUS to Melodifestivalen 2027?
Australian singer, songwriter and producer ALIUS, real name Sebastian Ivanov, has spoken about his Eurovision ambitions and his strong connection with Sweden in a new interview with JOY Breakfast.
The Melbourne based artist discussed his latest single “Trigger Point”, a collaboration with Swedish singer Lisa Ajax, as well as his musical journey and his long-standing connection with the Swedish music industry.
ALIUS revealed that he has been put forward for Sweden’s Melodifestivalen. The artist has previously said that representing Sweden at Eurovision would be a dream for him.
“I would love to represent Sweden in Eurovision,” ALIUS has said, explaining that Sweden has played an important role in his musical journey.
The connection goes back many years. Since launching his ALIUS project, Ivanov has regularly travelled to Sweden to work with Swedish songwriters and producers. He has also described Swedish pop songwriting as a major influence on his sound.
His latest release, “Trigger Point”, brings him together with Lisa Ajax, who has competed in Melodifestivalen several times. The song was released in August 2026 and combines ALIUS’ electronic production with Ajax’s vocals.
ALIUS is also a long time Eurovision fan. According to his recent statements, he was in Sweden when Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest with “Euphoria” in 2012.
Beyond Eurovision, ALIUS revealed that he is continuing to work on new music and is planning another trip to Sweden. He also mentioned upcoming songwriting sessions in Seoul, including work connected to the K-pop industry.
